CT Orbits
Basics: What is a CT scan of the Orbits?
An orbital CT scan is a procedure that utilizes our state-of-the-art 64 slice CT scanner and takes x-rays of the eye sockets (orbits) as well as the globes (the eyes). Only the body part (in this case your head) is placed inside the CT scanner and it is vital that the individual remains as still as possible during the exam, which commonly lasts only a few minutes. Depending on the type of exam ordered, contrast dye may or may not be injected into the patients veins prior to the exam.
